M/S Maritime Museum of Denmark
Visit a unique and prizewinning underground museum
This unique experience begins even before you enter the museum. Follow the sloping bridge down into the former dry dock between Kronborg Castle and The Culture Yard and enter an underground museum, designed by the world-renowned Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) architects.
Here you will meet a colorful world of numerous exhibitions telling the story of Denmark, as one of the leading maritime nations both past and present. The museum’s rich collections are evocatively and dramatically exhibited with large video projections on the architecture. Here you can see, listen and interact as you discover the maritime world.
Take a break in the M/S Café and enjoy a delicious lunch, hot and cold drinks, pastry and sweets.
The museum shop ‘M/ S Cargo’ is also worth a visit. Here you can buy interior design, arts, books, jewelry, scents and beauty products, toys, and fashion. Everything is imbued with quality and modern design. The museum shop is also available online.
M/S Maritime Museum of Denmark is one of the main reasons why Helsingør was on the New York Times list of 52 places to go in 2014.
Since the opening 5 October 2013 the museum has been awarded with several architecture- and design prizes.
