Shakespeare Festival at Hamlet's Castle 2016
Shakespeare Festival at Hamlet’s Castle is a grand annual Danish event, celebrating Shakespeare in the magical settings of Kronborg – Hamlet’s very own castle.
When the August sun sets over the historic town of Elsinore you are in for spectacular and startling open-air performances in the courtyard of Kronborg Castle, presented by the finest theatre companies in the world.
Walk along the banks of the torch-lit moat and prepare yourself for intense emotions, as you make your way to the atmospheric courtyard. Here you will find the stage and the audience tribune, in the most authentic scenography one can imagine: the walls of Kronborg Castle.
Anticipate world-class interpretations of Shakespeare by some of the most prestigious theatre companies and widely acclaimed artists of their time. The tradition goes 200 years back: Shakespeare Festival at Hamlet’s Castle was established at Kronborg Castle in 1816.
Program for 2016 will follow.
