Springbakgaard Bed & Breakfast
Springbakgaard, (Spring bank farm) is a thatched dwelling dating back to 1777, nestled round a garden courtyard. The farm has panoramic views of the Limfjord from its elevated position on Barmer hill, with Gjol and fjord-islands to the north and Aalborg and Nibe to the east.
The 17 ha. of Springbakgaard are run organically and are home to red deer, rare breed sheep, free ranging chickens and Icelandic horses. The undulating land, meandering becks and woodland groves are home to a host of wild birds and other wildlife such foxes, badgers, hares and deer.
Accommodation at Springbakgaard
In the west wing of the farm buildings, 2 environmentally friendly, country style, comfortable apartments were built in 2010. Both are self-contained with kitchen, bathroom and can sleep up to 4 and 6 guests respectively. Although they both have fully equipped kitchens, served breakfasts are also available for an extra charge. The food is, whenever possible, all organic. Springbakgaard is gernerally very environmentally-minded.
Activities at Springbakgaarden
We have grazing and stabling for extra horses in the barn, and there are plenty of trails for walking or riding around the farm, along the fjord or through nearby heath and woodland. We are also conveniently situated to access a network of local and regional cycle-ways, the closest being the fjord route, which goes round the whole Limfjord.
Whilst in the heart of the Danish countryside, we are only a short distance from a number of local amenities with 1½ km to a local grocers shop and bus stop in Barmer village; 9 km to Nibe (a charming market town), 20 km to Løgstør (famous for its shell fish), and 30 km to the university city of Aalborg with main train routes, airport, zoo, shopping, theatres etc.
