Aalborg city is host to the only Opera Festival in Denmark.

The palace is currently undergoing extensive modernisation and the public will be able to visit the royal premises prior to the owners taking over.

Miró described himself a gardener of art where his objects of art came alive of their own accord once he knew how to free the inherent force of the materiel.

Colour in Art in Louisiana, 5 Feb - 13 June
This exhibition features more than 100 works, including work by Kandinsky, that have been selected with colour as the cue and give colour pride of place
Gaudi unseen in Koldinghus, Kolding until 2 May
This exhibition allows you to see the workshop of the architect and marvel at the rather primitive low-technology tools with which he made his calculations.

Tivoli Gardens, 15 April – September

H.C Andersen’s Birthday, 2 April, Odense
The birthday of H.C. Andersen is celebrated annualy in his house. Entrance is free on this day and a small ceremony is held in the memorial hall bw. 1-2 pm.

The Little Mermaid to World EXPO 1 May–31 Oct
For 95 years she's been sat on her stone at Langelinie but when the World EXPO is held in Shanghai, it will be with the Little Mermaid as a main attraction.
Copenhagen Beer Festival, 6-8 May, CPH
Micro-breweries are sprouting up everywhere and this festival offers you the possibility of becoming acquainted with their fine products.
Odense Folk Festival, 21-24 May, Odense
For the 20th time Odense Folk Festival presents a mix of unknown and well-known Danish and foreign folk artists. 
Skagen Rally, 13-15 May, CPH-Skagen
The 200-220 participating motorcycles must be produced before the 31st of December 1934. The distance of the rally is about 600 km.
Ribe Viking Market, 1-9  May, Ribe
Together with 200-300 Vikings, you can experience a wealth of Viking crafts, combat displays, riding shows, etc. at the Ribe Viking Centre.
Iron Age Market, 17-18 May, Odense 
Grab the opportunity to go 2000 years back in time and experience this beautiful village where the market booths will give an insight into Iron Age everyday life. 
SPOT-Festival, 20-22 May, Aarhus
The festival supports and promotes upcoming artists. Each year over 700 bands apply for participation. Music is performed on 8 different stages in Aarhus.
Carnival in Aalborg, 21-29 May, Aalborg
The theme of 2010 is: "Mars & Venus". Expect events and performances at several places around town in the period leading up to the Carnival itself. 
Children's Carnival in Aalborg, 24 May 
The children celebrate their own carnival event with a parade (12-12.30pm) when 5.000 dressed up children and their parents stroll through the city.
Copenhagen Medieval Festival, 22-24 May
A colourful and authentic festival featuring life in Denmark in the year 1219 with merchants, musicians and a gigantic battle with 300 participating warriors.
 
Copenhagen Marathon, 23 May, Copenhagen
The Copenhagen Marathon takes place every year in May.

 
Whitsun Carnival, 21-23 May, Copenhagen
Enjoy three fabulous days of festivity at Copenhagen’s Fælledparken. Countless FREE concerts featuring genres from all over the world.
Carl Nielsen Music Competition, 30 May-9 Juni
The annual Carl Nielsen Competition takes place at the concert house in Odense.

A five days & nights mobile feast where local and international icons of street & club culture are invited to host one party each. 10th anniversary on June 5th.
International Sandsculpture Festival, 9 June
30 artists will compete for the title as the world's best sand sculptor when the championship is launched in the charming town of Søndervig, Hvide Sande.
Across the Øresund Bridge Race, 12 June
The 10th anniversary will be celebrated with a 21,1 km race across the bridge and brunch and entertainment in the starting area from 10.00 am.
Seafood Festival, 12 June, Nykøbing Mors
The day will be filled with music and entertainment, stalls by the harbour, cultural and activity trade for both children and adults.
Int. Kite Flyers Meeting, 17-20 June, Fanø
Everybody is being attracted to the beach in order to enjoy this gorgeous spectacle of thousands of flying kites in all sizes and varieties of models and colours.
Midsummer's Eve (Sankt Hans), 23 June, all DK
This solistical event is celebrated with bonfires, pcnics, speeches and singing along the Danish coasts, in parks and city squares.
Viking Games at Lindholm høje, June, Aalborg
At Lindholm Høje vistors will find Scandinavia's largest Viking burial ground with over 700 graves. The Viking market in late June is the biggest annual event here.
Days of Tordenskiold, 25-27 June, Fr. Havn
This event takes place by the harbour in Frederikshavn and the authentic Powder Magazine helps communicate the vibrant story of Tordenskjold.
Riverboat Jazz Festival, 23-27 June, Silkeborg
Silkeborg becomes New Orleans and the Gudenå river tuns into the Missisippi. Approx. 150 concerts around the city and on riverboats cruising the beautiful lakes...
North Sea Beach Marathon, 27/6, Hvide Sande 
The North Sea Beach Marathon is the world's most special run, proceeding as it does literally in sand along the west coast of Jutland.

The Viking Chronicles, 2-18 July, Jels
The viking chronicles are enacted in Denmark's most beautiful open-air amphitheatre with a view of the Jels lakes.
Hindsgavl Festival, 4-15 July, Middelfart
17 classical concerts with the best Scandinavian chamber musicians and foreign guest stars take place in the beautiful settings of Hindsgavl Castle.
International Steam Festival, 9-11 July, Vejle
Experience nostalgic steam ships, barges, steam vehicles, the summer train from the local locomotive club and a colourful market life with market stalls.
Fanniker Days, 9-11 July, Fanø 
This is not just a traditional village fair but also a tribute to past generations and the history of the island.

Aarhus Medieval Market, 15-18 July, Aarhus

In co-operation with Santa Claus of Greenland Bakken organizes this congress with more than 120 participating Santas. And they are all real Santas. 
Femø Jazz Festival, 27 July-1 August

Moesgård Viking Moot, 31 July-1 Aug, Aarhus 
The viking moot offers a wealth of activities. The warriors and horsemen, who demonstrate their skills during the weekend are especially popular. 
The Tall Ship's Races, 21–24 July, Aalborg 
The Tall Ship's Races return to Aalborg and for the third time the city will host the spectacular ships participating in the races. 
Copenhagen Summer Festival, 25 July-5 Aug
Festival of Chamber music with both established artists as well as up-and-coming musicians. Some concerts are free.

More than 100.000 musicians, knights, pilgrims, monks and visitors participate in the coming European Medieval Festival in Horsens. 
Aarhus Festival Week, 27 August-5 September
This is a festival of major importance to all of Scandinavia with several free shows, theatre performances, concerts, opera, ballet and much more.
GAM3 Street Basket Finals, 28 August, CPH
The biggest street basket event in Scandinavia with 145 teams and a total of 600 players. The event takes place on the City Hall Square.
Swim around the Parliament, 28 Aug, CPH 
Annual swimming competition in the canals of Copenahgen.

CSC Copenhagen Cycling, 29 August
This event is part of UCI Bike City Copenhagen and will be Copenhagen's biggest cycling event. More than 1,000 cyclists will participate.
